I'll keep this short as it's been a long day, and even longer 2 weeks in the
field...

Yesterday afternoon while driving from Blanding to Montezuma Creek Canyon I saw
a meadowlark that looks good for an Eastern just to the west of Doc Redd's
place.

I was able to watch the bird for about a minute before it flew directly over me
and onto Dr. Redd Property, before dropping in the grass out of view. The
malar was distinctly pale (not yellow, white-pale), and the birds flanks were
more or less streaked. The bird didn't appear as pale as I would have imagined
a "Lilian's" form to be. Unfortunately, the bird did not vocalize, and I
checked the area again today without seeing the bird again.

In any event, here are directions:

>From the ALCO in Blanding head south on Hwy, 191 for .8 miles.
Turn Left (there is an Amerigas on the left side of 191 and a "Blue Mountain
Trading Post" billboard on the right)
You should be heading east for 1.1 mile from 191 before turning right.
The bird was seen at .3 miles in the field to the east of the road. I have
placed orange marking tape in two places on a fencepost here.

The GPS coords are as follows in NAD27 UTM:

12 S 0636231
     4161702

This is a species I have suspected of being in this area, as it breeds fairly
close to the Utah border in northern Arizona. Feel free to contact me with any
questions...

Cheers
