After the Snow Goose Festival on Saturday, I saw a dark morph
Ferruginous Hawk just west of Fillmore on the dirt road coming from
Clear Lake WMA. I was able to jump out of the car and hastily snap this
not so great photo as it flew overhead:

This is my first post to the birdnet list, and hopefully it is worth
reporting. My understanding is that the Ferruginous Hawk, especially
the dark morph, is somewhat rare.

By the way, Clear Lake had a number of great ducks right next to the
road, including Cinnamon Teal (around a dozen), Bufflehead, L. Scaup,
Co. Goldeneye, Gadwall, No. Shovelers, and Mallards.

Cheers,
Tom
