I managed to get away from work around 3:00 and floored it from Orem to
Farmington, only stopping to get my optics. When I arrived, Steve and
Cindy Sommerfield were already looking and hadn't seen the bird. I
received a call from Kris as I left work in Orem saying the gull had
flown off to the southeast towards the dump, but most of the birds were
too far away, and those that were close were just the common birds. If
you want to get a chance to look for this bird, I suggest going out
tomorrow as the main gate at Egg Island is locked after March 1st, and
it would be a quite a walk to try for this bird next weekend.
The 2nd winter Glaucous was in the Turpin Unit about 100 yards out from
the shore most of the time we were there.
Good Birding
Tim
