[Birdnet] Non-commercial policy

Greetings,

I've noticed and it's been brought to my attention that there have been some breaches of the non-commercial policy appearing on the website and listservs. I would appreciate it if you would help me out by trying not to do anything that looks like it is done to promote a business interest. (Like encluding your business name on e-mails, etc.) I realize that some people have their business name in your e-mail address and there can't really be much done about that, but please try to conform to the policy that we've established for the utahbirds.org website and the birdnet, birdtalk and the local listservs.

It may seem like we're splitting hairs here, but I think it is important to keep the website and listservs as free of advertizing, etc., as much as possible so it is just about the birds, birders and birding. If one person does something that is somewhat promotional then others think they ought to be able to do something too and I think because of that it could easily get out of hand. So please try not to do anything that would be contrary to this policy or encourage others to break this policy because of your example.

I'll try to take care of things that I see and things that are brought to my attention in this reguard (mainly behind the scene). This job as wemaster and list serve "owner" has become more and more demanding and even with the help of the assistant webmaster, Eric Huish, who has eased the burden a lot, it is still a big job. I'd appreciate your help by conforming to this policies we have in place so the time can be better spent to build the website and keep the birding information flowing.

  Thanks,
  Milt Moody
