I was able to observe a sage thrasher on the island today. Stay to the left when arriving on the island, heading south, pass the turn off to the ranch and just as you round the bend on the left side of the road, the thrasher was chasing bugs throughout the rabbit brush.
I also observed a Western Grebe of the north side of the causeway just before mm 3. Many shorebirds - Great Blue Herons, cormorant, willets, avocets, plovers, kill deer, gulls-California and Franklin? little early?, eared grebes.
On island, many horned and western larks, the Say's phoebe is back to park headquarters and the corrals, burrowing owls, northern harriers, golden eagle. Thanks Tim for the grasshopper sparrow posting. I don't know the call, but I have been looking. Thank you everyone for their postings. Keep them coming.
Beautiful Day
Jolene
