Waterbird/Raptor count
3/30/07

Total number of waterfowl around 110,000.  The long-term average for this
week in March is 162,000.  Numbers down considerably from two weeks ago
indicating migration was about 2 weeks earlier than average.  Total
shorebirds around 7600 which is more than double the long-term average of
about 2700 for this week in March.  Record high March counts of cinnamon
teal, pied-billed grebe, western grebe, Clark's grebe, black-crowned night
heron, black-necked stilts, marbled godwit, Franklin's gull, Caspian tern,
and coot.  Global warming????  First spring sightings of eared grebe,
western grebe, black-necked stilt, marbled godwit, and Caspian tern.
