This morning the Great Salt Lake Audubon field trip was graced with 3
LONG-TAILED DUCK'S on the north side of the causeway where the road
curves. 2 females and 1 male bird were seen about 150 yards out with a
mixed flock of Goldeneye and Lesser Scaup.
This appears to be the fourth latest spring report for this species: May
19, 1993 at Farmington Bay, April 29, 1993 at Farmington Bay, and April
4, 1993 at Howard Slough. There is also an undated April record from
Fish Springs, and a July record from Bear River (this presumably was an
"early" fall record).
Good Birding
