Anne and I located a Northern Waterthrush along the Jordan River Parkway this morning. From the parking lot just north of 5400 South, cross the river to the west and walk north along the dirt path that parallels the river. You will see a long skinny pond on the west side of the path. The bird was favoring the north end of the pond. It first got our attention as we watched it chase a Townsend's Warbler. It was very active around the pond unlike the usual skulky waterthrushes we are used to seeing. Listen for the very loud chip note.
