I was at Lytle Ranch on Sat. and I didn't see the R B Sapsucker that was
there a couple weeks ago but there was a Sapsucker there that looks a lot
like a R B but does show signs of being a Hybrid. It looks very much like a
bird that was there this time last year.
Also Friday in St. George there was a Sapsucker with a mostly red head and a
lot of red on the breast but it also showed a somewhat veiled black breast
patch. Both these birds looked very much like R B without close inspection
to see the signs of them being hybrids.
There seems to be several of these type birds in this part of the state
every year. Some look more like the R N parent and are easier to recognize.
Another White-throated Sparrow (tan-stripped) show up in the yard on
Friday.I haven't seen it since but I've been gone most of the weekend. There
was also a Winter Wren in St. George on Friday and as far as I know the
Veery was last seen on Thursday late.
