A Horned Grebe was on the south side of the Antelope Island Causeway
today about noon. It was just south of the bridge closest to the
island. A lone Long-billed Curlew was in the same area - one scope view
included the curlew, horned grebe, and eared grebe. There were also a
few American Pipits along the causeway. The prominent ducks were
Shovelers, but two Ruddy Ducks were also seen along with several groups
of Eared Grebes. No Bonaparte's Gulls were seen. A visit to the
Kaysville Ponds did not yield the Hooded Mergansers reported earlier.
Ring-necked ducks are there, as are a lot of Pied-billed Grebes. A pair
of nice birders were also spotted at the ponds - Keith and Judy
Archibald from Logan.
