Hello,
This evening (October 25, 2006), Kristen, Quinn, and I went by Stratton Pond
(Grandpa's Fishing Pond, Hurricane, Washington Co.) and were very surprised
to see an adult male White-winged Scoter among the many ducks on the pond.
It is really a treat to get close looks at this beautiful duck.
Other waterfowl highlights around the county include the first-winter Surf
Scoter remaining at Baker Reservoir, a pair of first-winter Greater
White-fronted Geese at the Sunbrook Golf Course, and the continuing Ross's
Goose at the St. George Golf Course, Middle Pond.
Regards,
Rick Fridell
