Hi All
I don't have anything outrageous to report other than the numbers of ducks yesterday at Farmington Bay were really good. There were a lot of hunters so there were big numbers of ducks on the unit one rest area pond, especially Gadwalls and Pintails.
I saw big numbers of all the usual ducks except Goldeneyes I didn't see any Goldeneyes at all.
Entering the bird refuge I was treated to several Raptores.
Lots of American Kestrels
My 1st Rough-legged Hawk of the season
My 1st Bald Eagle of the season He was sitting in the top of the eagle tree when I arrived then took of and return several minutes later with lunch that he sat in the top of the tree and ate. I saw a juvenile Bald Eagle sitting in the trees along Glover lane as well.
California Gulls
Ringbilled Gulls
Herring Gull
Red Tail Hawk
Northern Harriers
Two juvenile Bullocks Orioles
Blue Herons
A group of White Faced Ibis
Red-winged Blackbirds
Lark Sparrow
Song Sparrows
The Marsh Wrens were very active.
Nothing out of the ordinary to report but a lot of fun.
Happy birding
Steve
