The Prothonotary Warbler party at Arnold Smith's house in Morgan, Morgan County, was well attended this morning. Guests included Pomera Fronce, Keith Evans, Jack Rensel, Paul Higgins, David and Petey Wheeler, me and most importantly, the PROTHONOTARY WARBLER.
Arnold has noticed a pattern in the bird's movements as it travels around the neighborhood. We saw several circuits in a couple hours of watching, all of which passed through Arnold's front yard. The bird is not wary. Despite many lenses, scopes and binoculars pointing at it from as close as 15-20 feet, the bird foraged calmly and showed no signs of trepidation over the oohing and aahing spectators. Any kind of sounds to attract the bird's attention are not necessary.
If you visit, please respect Arnold's neighbors to keep the peace in the neighborhood. We gained permission from one obliging couple across the street to follow the bird into the garden and side yard. They got good looks at the celebrity as well.
