[Birdnet] Red-necked Grebe, Purple Martins

At about 6 pm a group of us from the GSL Bird Festival trip to Jordanelle found the Red-necked Grebe in the water about five feet from the dike. The bird was way out west near where the dike makes a sharp turn to the south. It was not possible to see the bird from the campground. The wind was very strong from the south and midges were almost absent from the area. If the wind is calm tomorrow, perhaps the bird will be back near the campground area. In a classic birding moment, the battery in my camera was dead, I did not have a back-up battery, and managed to miss a great Red-necked Grebe photo op. Arthur Morris is safe from any competition coming from me.
Thanks.
Buck Russell
