As many of you may have already heard through the media Anami, the bald
eagle that flies in Tracy Aviary's bird show has been recovered. She was
identified by Idaho Fish and Game near Idaho Falls, Idaho and brought in by
a falconer on Monday of this week. Our staff brought her back to the aviary
Monday evening. She had gone approximately 200 miles in two weeks; during
that time she had lost about 10% (~one pound) of her body weight and was
certainly dirty and thirsty when first given an opportunity to drink. She is
now doing well and will be housed in quarantine (as all new aviary birds
are) for 30 days to be sure she's completely healthy before being introduced
to the public again.
Thank you very much for letting me use this space to ask for your help and
thank you to all those who helped us by keeping an eye open for her. I also
owe a very big thank you to those of you who helped us track down some of
the many sightings we got in the initial days of her fly-off.
We are extremely happy to have her back safe and sound.
Thanks again,
Patty Shreve
