During the last survey, there was some ice in corners, etc.  But now we are
totally froze over; even the river is almost frozen.  It must be winter and
time for the Christmas Bird Count which happens to be on Saturday, Dec. 16
at 7:30 am.  Some space is available in the bunkhouse.  The following birds
were seen within the survey route:

Canada geese    1,591
Mallard   1,241
Northern pintail   33
American wigeon   1
Sandhill crane   259
Great blue heron   7
Sharp-shinned hawk   1
Bald eagle   2
Red-tailed hawk   5
American kestrel   1
Northern harrier   3
